They install in any masonry, UL listed solid fuel burning fireplace or universal ventfree firebox certified by CSA/AGA or UL. All Comfort glow vent free products have an Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS), which shuts the unit off if there is not enough fresh air exchange.

Controlled Models - that the heat output and flame height modulate
automatically from high to lower settings, or pilot, in order to maintain
a consistent room temperature.
Remote Control Ready Models - that can be operated with the
optional hand held remote or built-in manual
control. The operator may use the hand held remote to select
a thermostat comfort setting (if applicable) or turn the log heater on
and off.
